Bengaluru is the capital city of the Karnataka State in India. It is located in the South Eastern Part of Karnataka on the Deccan Plateau. It is the third most populous city in India after Mumbai and Kolkata and the fifth largest city. It is among the top ten entrepreneurial centres in the world. It is also referred to as the Silicon Valley of India.
Bengaluru’s economy boasts figures in excess of fifty thousand crores with a growth in economy over ten per cent. It is the second fastest growing city in India.
Bengaluru was formerly known as Bangalore and is also popularly known as the Garden City of India. It is because of its pleasant climate and the presence of several parks. It is also called the `pub’ capital of India. Last year it was voted by the Lonely Planet as the third among the top ten cities in the world to visit.
The places of interest in Bengaluru are the Lal Bagh, the Vidhan Soudha and the Bangalore Palace. The Lal Bagh is a famous botanical garden and it was commissioned by Tipu Sultan. It has a renowned glass house where there is a flower show held on an annual basis. This garden has one of the largest collections of tropical plants and its lake is one of the principal tourist attractions in Bengaluru.
The Vidhan Soudha is the seat of the State Legislature. Its construction is in the Neo Dravidian style.
Bangalore Palace was built by Reverend Garrett and was completed in 1944. It has a slig
